Job Description:

Independence USD 446 has an opening for a dynamic 4th grade teacher with strength in curriculum at Jefferson School for the 2013-2014 school year.  Jefferson School is a new elementary building that opened in 2011 for students in grades 3-5 .  ESOL endorsement preferred but not required.

Job Salary (if available): Commensurate with education and experience. Please refer to salary schedule on district website (

Job Benefits (if available): Plus $5,280 towards health insurance for teachers and teacher spouses employed by USD 446. Plus $3,300 for teachers covered by a spouse`s employer`s group health insurance outside the district. Tuition Pool available for up to six (6) hours of tuition assistance per year. If the employee is in an education-related degree-granting program, he/she is eligible for an additional three (3) hours of tuition assistance per year. The district will pay 50% of the tuition to a maximum of $125 per credit hour, excluding fees, books and materials, upon proof of the successful completion of the course. Ten (10) days sick leave per year; which can accumulate to a total of ninety (90) days. Two (2) days personal business/community leave days per contract year which may accumulate to a total of five (5) days.

 District Overview

Independence USD 446 enrolls approximately 2,000 students in grades K-12. The district operates four attendance centers: Independence High School (grades 9-12), Independence Middle School (grades 6-8), Jefferson School (grades 3-5), and Eisenhower School (grades K-2).  All Independence USD 446 schools are fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and have earned full outcomes accreditation through the Kansas Department of Education Quality Performance Accreditation (QPA) process.
