The district is located in northeast Kansas and comprises the three communities of Axtell, Bern and Summerfield. The area of the district is 225 square miles. The district-wide enrollment is 322 students.

The towns of Seneca, Sabetha and Marysville are a short drive from any of the communities. Opportunities for advanced degree work are available at Kansas State University which is 60 miles from Axtell. Major shopping areas within a 100 mile radius include Kansas City, Topeka, Lincoln and Omaha.

Each community is unique in its culture, yet all strive to make the school district the center of their focus. Parents and patrons take an active role in the education of the children and in the activities of the school. Each community is a great place to live.
